I was happily listening to a quiz the other evening, one of those ones that takes in various geographic areas of the country. I used to feel quite inhibited by them in my youth. The music round is always my favourite as after many years – only as an adult, I have listened to classical as a default and of course, my musical knowledge is now extensive. If I’d known then about the fantastic range of music courses out there, I could so happily have had a career in this genre. Back to the point . .there was one particular tv quiz called something like name that tune and three very well known personalities (the word celebrities had not been invented back then) would sit and listen earnestly, then pontificate over the composer and title. My dad used to be yelling at the tv in frustration when they seemed to be purposely taking hours over the most obvious – in his view. Of course, they were probably taking time to fill out the programme! They could so easily have been logging on to the latest of the most fantastic music courses online and got to the prize element of the quiz so much quicker!
