When our youngsters are going through junior school, if lucky, they will be offered the chance to play an instrument or take part in group singing activities. This used to be considered a very important part of the yearly syllabus and although the pupils didn’t always appreciate it at the time, for many, these led to rewarding hobbies or even careers later on in life. With pressures on all schools to achieve the greatest number of high academic passes in exams, music often slips off agendas. To help an aspiring musician, maybe who showed promise in those early try outs, there are hundreds of fantastic music courses online and in the distant learning schemes. There are composition; instrumental; music history; performance; music technology – anything that you want for. Selecting the one is the challenge!
