There are so many hobbies children can do these days. Their choices sem endless. My neighbours for example have their small 5 year old son already linked to a junior rugby colts tag team every Saturday, then he also play football at school. His older sister is mad about gymnastics, hockey and netball – and their mum plays hockey with a local amateur team. This is all very exciting. And expensive of course. What they also mention, unusually, is a desire to learn music – they know I have a piano and have attended lessons with a local teacher for some time. Although you can find tutors online, on you tube etc. who show you where to put your hands and run through basics, it is impossible to learn the correct techniques, musical theory, timing etc. without the expertise of a proper hands on teacher next to you, firmly guiding out those very bad habits and encouraging the progress!
