One of my nieces was always really good at music throughout school – from an early age she could sing very tunefully and was forever rattling off little ditties like advertising slogans. She was given a violin from the school stores in only year 3 which was 2 years earlier than usual. All this went well – she was enrolled in the Saturday morning music schools that took lots of budding musicians and taught them the disciplines of working with other in an orchestra or chamber music setting. There’s no I in team . . .as they say. There were homework courses but what she really wanted was more indepth work to fulfill her eager mind. At senior level she majored in music and got a good degree at a London university. Then she didn’t do anything for a while. A good online music career course could so easily have helped to direct her energies – music production; how to teach music and how to rad and write music would have been so useful at a time when she was wavering .
