When you look for a music teacher for your child, you could find yourself daunted and confused by the vast number of teachers available! You can often search by town, postcode and style of music lesson, but it can be tricky to get the right teacher. Here are some things to consider when making your choice:
Is the teacher a member of the Musician’s Union?
This is a highly recommended union for musicians, but especially for those who teach. It helps music teachers to get the right checks, lesson planning skills and insurances. It demonstrates that your teacher takes their profession seriously.
Many teachers do have qualifications, but others may not. There are lots of qualifications which indicate that your teacher is a good one.
Member of other important bodies?
Membership of a recognised institution such as the European Piano Teachers Association is a good way to see if the teacher is commited to their work.
